Don’t fuck with the Dead

Bedroeving alom.

During a Q&A, one student asked what Bruce thought about the Evil Dead remake… the student seemed extremely agitated by the fact that a remake was even being considered.

Bruce basically backed the project. Said it’s even too early to say whether it will end up getting made, as there isn’t even a script written yet. He says as long as they make a film that scares the *beep* out of you, they [Campbell, Raimi] have done right. He didn’t say, but he spoke a lot about creative control during the night (how they were approached by New Lies Cinema to do Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash, but would have had extremely little creative control besides Ash’s dialogue) so I assume Sam and Bruce will have a great deal of creative control over this film if it goes through.

As to WHY they would do an ED remake, Bruce said it would simply be nice to see a version of the story “done right” – without visible green hoses when blood gushes out of somebody, without the matte lines around the moon, etc. He then segued into a George Lucas bashing session (essentially saying, ‘Hey, at least we’re not screwing with the original movie’), and frantically screamed “If the space ship looked like shit in 1977, it should still look like shit now!”

Okay. You just don’t fuck with the Dead, Ash! You should know that by now…

B Movie Legend Bruce Campbell is mistaken for his character Ash from the Evil Dead trilogy and forced to fight a real monster in a small town in Oregon.

So that made my day.

Right.

Okay, byebye now.
